HAROLD PINTER’S THE DWARFS

THE DWARFS is a stage adaptation by Kerry Lee Crabbe of the autographical novel by Harold Pinter based on the life and times of Pinter’s Hackney gang in the 1950’s.

During the Pandemic domestic violence rose significantly. Run At it Shouting, in partnership with the sponsors The Fisheries @ London Fields, produced THE DWARFS to fundraise for The NIA Project {a Hackney-based charity that provides services to women and children involved in domestic violence}.

Thanks to everyone who worked on and supported this event, we raised over £2,250 for NIA. For more details about THE DWARFS please click on our unique digital programme for the show attached below.

This was a brave, bold attempt to capture the essence of the Kerry Lee Crabbe script. It made me want to go back to Harold’s novel. Which is always a good sign.

So enjoyed The Dwarfs tonight. How mesmerising Harold’s words are. The talented, watchable cast were all equally good and personable. Fascinating to see this play in the light of Harold’s later work.
— Valerie Grove | Former Feature Writer, Interviewer and Columnist for The Times
That was marvellous. The plunge back into Pinter waters I so needed. I loved all the cast. The rhythm, pacing, danger, vocal range, overlaps of comedy and menace and pathos - all so marvellous.
I didn’t really know “The Dwarfs”. It rings many Pinter bells, of course, but is its own psychodrama.
— Alastair Macaulay | Former Chief Theatre Critic of the Financial Times

The performances were incredible and the performers felt deeply connected to each other. I had wondered how a reading would translate over zoom but it felt direct and immediately engaging.
— Dee Meaden | Writer / Director

Marvellous work on The Dwarfs. You can almost sense the cure for Harold in working it through. It never seemed to work except in the novel, but I heard it tonight. Good work all round.
